Exciting Times
I know it has been awhile since I have written about Maddie. She experiences new things all the time and it is so exciting for both of us!
She loves to smile and “talk” which is SO cute. She smiles at me every morning when I get her out of her crib (she likes mommy best), and she smiles at me all day long. She loves to talk at anything that will listen to her… whether it is me or the rattle in her hand. She tells me about her day (as if I didn’t know what she was up to). She is grabbing things now. She can grab a rattle and shake it around. She found my hair and likes to tug on that sometimes. So cute. She sucks her thumbs like mad, and if she is really excited, she will suck both of them at the same time! Somehow her little thumb can stop a crying spell in an instant. That girl can really turn on and off the water works. You would think the world was ending with the way she cries sometimes.
She loves to play peek-a-boo. She smiles and laughs and gets all giddy. It is pretty cute. I cover her little face with one of her blankets (not actually cover, but just put in front of… don’t worry… she can still breathe) and pull it away really fast. She is always surprised and happy to see me on the other side of the blanket.
We have been taking her to Monday night football over at the my brother’s house. One of his friends was kind enough to hold her for awhile and explain the whole game of football to her. Now she just sits and watches the game with us. She LOVES to watch football. In fact, she likes anything that is on TV. We won’t be making a habit of it, but it is pretty funny to see her so interested in the game. She doesn’t get that from either James or myself.
She is starting to sit up too! If she is holding on to a finger of mine in each hand she can pull herself up and sit upright. It is pretty cute. She is holding her head up almost perfectly! She loves to stand (assisted of course). Her leg muscles are pretty strong… she can push herself up if you have her on your lap!
Maddie discovered that she has feet! She loves to lay on her back and kick her legs up so that her feet are almost touching her face. Then she will grab a foot with each hand and just hang out like that. She loves it! Her favorite time to do that is when I have her on the changing table! She did that once when she didn’t have a diaper on and I was afraid something was going to shoot out! Of course she just smiles!
If you couldn’t tell, I love her very much. She makes me laugh and giggle every day!
