Christmas & Maddie

It’s been a great Christmas season for us and Maddie continues growing and amazing us every day. Read on for an update.

We had a very nice Christmas time here in the Wigdahl household. I was expecting to have to work on the 28th and 29th, but a company wide email was sent out second week of December or so saying we could take the 2 scheduled work days off between Christmas and New Years… sweet!

We did have some stress leading up to Christmas as I supposed most folks do. We hosted a family event Christmas eve at our house, so Jess was feeling particularly pressured to have everything just perfect in the house with decor (and she most definitely succeeded) on top of getting all the food stuff together and organized. We had a nice time though, but it definitely seems to have passed by so quickly. Christmas was great also… we spent the day over at Jess’ parent’s house along with all the family. Always a good time.

Maddie has been a blast. Watching her grow, learn, and interact is so much fun. We had her dedicated to the Lord earlier this month (pics). She’s becoming more and more interactive each day… doing more with her hands, reaching for things, babbling and talking. She’s sooo close to sitting up on her own now… just a matter of time… and she even pushes herself up to a standing position from being seated using her legs which are getting very strong. Seems to be right on track for 6 months old (which she’ll be tomorrow the 29th). She has her 6 month doc appt tomorrow (shots included) so that should be fun. Will be interesting to see if she’s still off the low end of the charts for height and weight. We can tell she’s definitely been growing though… we’re having to retire some clothes, and she’s filling more of her car seat, stroller, etc. I’m leaving out a lot of details I know, but it’s late and I bet Jess will write something to fill in the stuff I’m missing <wink wink nudge nudge>.

Definitely been nice to have some time off, but tough scheduling in everything we’ve been wanting to do. We’re trying to see a lot of people who are in town for the holidays, finally make use of our zoological society passes, and more. Hopefully we’ll get the majority of it in by the time I have to go back to work next week.
