Yipee!!!

James and I took Maddie down to Children's Hospital on Tuesday (Nov 1) to get her tested for Cystic Fibrosis. It is a rather interesting test.

4 Month Appointment

Yes... she is 4 months old already (almost). She will be 4 months on the 29th, but she had her dr.'s appointment today (Oct. 20th). I can't say it went really well. James was working today so I took her myself.

Exciting Times

I know it has been awhile since I have written about Maddie. She experiences new things all the time and it is so exciting for both of us!

Firsts

Many new things have happened for Maddie in the past week. Some good, some bad, and some really funny!

I’ve Lost It

I know my husband probably made that statement about me years ago, but now I finally agree with him. If you search through the blogs, you will see there is one about my diaper bag dilemma. I thought I had solved the problem, but it has come back to haunt me.

Yippee!!!!

No, my diaper bag blues are not over, but something exciting has happened!!! Maddie slept 11 hours last night!!! She made a few noises through the night, but nothing her own thumb couldn't handle. She slept 10 hours the other night... apparently it wasn't a fluke. You would think that I am so well rested, but oddly enough that is not the case. Of course I did not go to bed the same time she did. I was woken up when James came to bed too. He stays up late on the weekends to play World of Warcraft. I was up several other times throughout the night, but I definitely can't complain! This is a major breakthrough!!!!

Carrying on the Buscema Line….

My little girl is so perfect! You know she takes after my side of the family when you can take her shopping all day and she doesn't even fuss! Maybe it is the smell of new clothes, the feeling of victory knowing mommy has new clothes in her hands, or the oohs and aahs she gets from those passing by! Since she seems the happiest while at a mall, I suppose I have an excuse to go several times a week!

And So It Begins…

Today is James' first day back to work since Maddie was born and my first day alone with the little munchkin. It is only 11:00am and so many things have happened!!

New Adventures

Jess here with some more updates for Maddie's fans. Today James and I decided that we would attempt to go to the movies! People have told us that we should take advantage of the time when Maddie is so young and not real mobile and get out as much as we can. We have been taking little outings during the day and it has been SO nice to get out of the house.

Babies & Germs

I don't know if it's just me, but I find a certain humor in the recommendations of books and doctors that say you shouldn't take your new baby out in public for the first 6 weeks. (Might be a number slightly different than 6, but that's the one I've heard most often.) What I want to know is why then, is it ok for you to bring your new baby to the pediatrician's office, where many sick children gather and fill the air with their germs, yet it's NOT ok for you to bring your child anywhere else? Seems like a doctor's office would be the LAST place you'd want to bring your new baby.... I'm all for house calls by the pediatrician... anyone else?

Life with Baby

I have to say that giving birth was an interesting experience. Epidurals are great!!! I recommend that every mom in labor get one... and I wish they would have sent me home with some as well! I wasn't expecting James to post such detailed info about the labor and delivery on his blog... sorry if it is a bit too personal.

1st outing…

Well we took our first outing from the house with baby Madeline to go see the pediatrician. All was well really. Maddie has had great coloring since birth and no apparent problems. We had a couple of questions about feeding frequencies and amounts which were answered. She was weighed: 6 lbs. 11oz. Still within spec for newborns. She's been feeding better since, so we expect her weight to start to climb again by the next appointment next Tuesday.

Well we're finally home, and I've been away from the computer for longer than I can remember. Madeline arrived at 6:13PM June 29th, weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz, and is 18.5" long. I kept a pretty good record of the whole event which I'll post later, but for now, we're pretty tired, but we do have some pictures to share... enjoy!

Baby news…

No progress as of the doctor's appointment this morning. Everything was just as it has been for about 3 weeks now. Our primary doctor is on call today and was over at the hospital during our appointment, but Jess just talked to her and we'll be checking in this evening to prepare for induction tomorrow. Exciting and nerve-wracking!

Luckily, we put our bags in the van this morning so we should pretty much have everything together and in there already. I'm at work today, but Jess went on home.... I bet this will be the longest day of her life!

39 weeks…

Well we have about a week left before Madeline is due. So many feelings to deal with: excitement, anxiety, trepidation... how to deal with it all? To find out about the latest with the baby, read this. We had our latest weekly doctor's appointment today... to find out more read on.

36 weeks…

Today was the 36 week checkup at the doctor's. Today we were with Dr. Silverman.

Baby Shower

We had a GREAT baby shower on Saturday, May 21st. We really didn't want to do the traditional shower thing so we had a co-ed event and it was just more of an excuse to get together and socialize and hang out and anticipate Maddy than anything else. We had a great time and want to thank EVERYONE for their wonderful gifts! Jason got some great pics and had a little too much fun with his fish-eye lens.

What's been a real experience after the shower has been the assesment of what all we have, what we have too much of, and what we still need before Maddy gets here. You know, determining the "must haves" from the "nice to haves". Jess has sure got everything organized and has done a great job with this!

34 weeks…
