This isn't working for me... I have a clean install of Fedora 15 with virtual hosts configured. Everything is working just fine when SELinux is set to permissive but as soon as I enable it, I get "Forbidden - You don't have permission to access / on this server" but only on the virtual host located under my home folder (the standard /var/www/html works fine).

I have tried what you suggested but still get the same problem... "ls -Z" for the htdocs folder yields:

drwxr-xr-x. administrator administrator system_u:object_r:httpd_sys_content_t:s0 htdocs

Any help would be very much appreciated as I am pulling my hair out on this one... This machine is Internet facing and I really don't want to disable SELinux if I can avoid it.

Thanks...

@kathy A - Please see my <a href="/blog/archives/2008/10/18/prop-8-thoughts-followup/" rel="nofollow">followup post</a> for refutation of the "rights" issue. As for being a "constitutional right"... I'd probably ask them for clarification and to produce the text which shows this (it doesn't exist).

Your comments are very astute and very valid. Thanks for putting it all together. One question:
How would you defend against those who believe this to be a "constitutional right"?

If you have evidence of it truly being a rights case, please submit it. A vague reference to laws (that may well be from Djibouti) will not stand as case here. Until I see something to the contrary, California Family Code section 297.5 carries my claim:

"Registered domestic partners shall have the same rights, protections, and benefits [snip] as are granted to and imposed upon spouses."

What law is not going to be viewed by someone as limiting the rights of the minority?

why its a rights issue...
if we define civil unions as being between same-sex couples ... as heterosexual couples have the right to choose marriage... and yes there are actually laws that give rights/protections to married couples including the ability to transfer assets and not claiming them as gifts between married couples... so yes i still think the pro proposition 8 may be the majority ... but its another case of the majority limiting the rights of a minority...

James,
Thanks for this!! You've done a great job of laying this all out. It's amazing how confusing this stuff can be when so many false claims are made. I appreciate your perspective on this.
